Attention Devs, Alchemy and Fungiculture Inquiry

Post by jumpingspider »

So I was all happy tonight, finally being able to reach level 60 fungiculture, so I can start on planting silver mushrooms.

When I go to grind up a silver mushroom to get those spores, I was whistling, smiling, and bobbing my head. Suddenly....

DENIED. You need 61 alchemy to grind those shrooms for spores!

Instant frowny face.

So I want to ask the devs, what's the thought process behind this? Because when I grind other shrooms, I can't help but notice that I earn FUNGICULTURE EXP not alchemy exp. So if this meant to be an alchemy related skill, then shouldn't it give ALCHEMY EXP? Yes. Yes it should.

Signed,

The confused jumpingspider :(

Alchemy is needed to use the mortar n pestle. Fungiculture to grow what you need, alchemy to grind down for more seeds.

One skills grows em, the other supplies/suppliments em. A good coupling synergy combo.

I, too, was hoping for a quicker/easier way to raise alch xp, but I think with fungiculture grinding shrooms, it may be 'too easy' in regards to the xp gain, so the xp goes to fungi rather than alch. Two seeds per shroom may create a free endless supply/loop.

May not make sense, but probably better overall as fungi (especially as the newer skill to help promote) xp is limited whereas alch xp can come from multiple sources.

I just think of it similar to crafting/recycling vials. Alch creates it for xp, but forging xp to recycle them. Or was it upgrade them? I forget, been awhile.

Just my opinion, anyways.

Edit: No, I am not a dev. Just thoughts of a player that loves mechanics.
