Pouch vs Book Damage

Post by a clueless noob »

So I just tried out enchanted demonic book (-13% CD, 3 spells), and superior pouch (4 spells), and got this result.

Despite having 1 less spell, the book had 12 more damage.
So just wondering if there's something wrong with the analysis calculation, or are books really this op?

Having the extra 13% CD reduction has increased your cooldown to the point where missile spells can now possibly double hit in between your melee attacks.
Here are the calculations of both of your Max Spell Damages:

With pouch: Fire Missile (8) + Earth Missile (8) + Water Missile (6) + Fire Wave (10) = 32

With Book: 2x Fire Missile (16) + 2x Earth Missile (16) + 2x Water Missile (12) = 44

That is why you get the big jump in max damage. Actually doing that amount of damage is very unlikely, however. That would require you to cast all of your spells twice between melee hits and all of your spells have to hit max damage on both casts.

A better gauge of your magic damage output would be to look at your average damage. This value is calculated from your total DPS due to spells multiplied by 3 seconds per hit, and it will give you a better idea of how much damage you will actually be doing from your spells. As you can see from your combat analysis results, your average magic damage goes down by changing to the book since you lost a spell and decreased your total magic DPS.
That is a nice boulder.

Got it, thanks!
