Tools Work When In Inventory, Wield Unnecessary

As long as the tool is in your inventory, it will act as if wielded.

*Uncut Gems would still require a 1-click to begin cutting.

*Tool-Belt, separate from equipment slots.

would be very nice! switching to and from weapon/tools is a bit of a hassle sometimes.

I understand the incentive for this, but I like being able to un-equip my axe, for example, so I don't start chopping the wrong type of tree on my way to where I'm going.
Another idea would be to have a tool equipment slot separate from weapons. That way, you can carry it without having to be careful of what resource you bumb into, and you also don't need to switch between your weapon and tool when mobs are in the way.

A 'Tool-belt' would be acceptable.

I agree, miners should be able to defend themselves from PKers in NML. Having a pickaxe in hand is basically suicide. No chance of winning the fight.

As others have stated, this would be very nice as you would be able to keep a weapon equipped to kill mobs on the way to resources, or players who attack in nml, while gathering.

This would make cutting gems while mining much nicer as well. Currently equipping an uncut gem un-equips your pickaxe, which must then be re-equipped in order to start mining again.

Not having to equip tools to use them would also allow the multi-tool to function as both chisel and mortar which would be very nice. As I have said before, having the 1 free inventory space saved by not carrying a chisel would at least add some value to the multi-tool other than the savings in chest/cabinet space it currently provides

One small addition to this, it would be nice if vials were treated as tools if this update is made; i.e. vials don't have to be equipped either, only the secondary ingredients. Though, equipping vial would likely have to be required if more then one vial type is in your inventory at the same time for some secondary ingredients :(
